Sussex Area Community

Foundation (SACF)  was incorporated in August 2003

In 2004  SACF joined Community Foundations

of Canada
 

SACF will annually award

at least five Forbes Family Scholarships

at a minimum of $2,500 each


 

We are a  member of Community Foundations

of Canada (CFC),  a network of over 141 community foundations.

SECOND ROUND OF GRANTS


A total of $11,000 grants were awarded to:

$3,000 to Kings County Big Brothers/Big Sisters Inc. for a Safety Training Program

$2,200 to Sussex Vale Transition House for a Family Violence Prevention - Education & Awareness Campaign

$2,200 to The Little Jackie Fund for Urgent Orthodontic Care for Impoverished Children

$1,600 to Sussex Elementary School for a P.E.P. (Parent Education Program)Centre

$1,000 to Belleisle Community Pool Association for Upgrading the Pool Chlorination System

$1,000 to Danny & Jessica Angel Foundation Inc. for Meals/Nutritious Snacks and Winter Clothing for Children in Sussex Area Schools
 

 


Sussex Area Community Foundation received its first donation in August 2004. This was a gift from the Estate of Leo Forbes, which was given to the Foundation to be held “in perpetuity”. This means that the Foundation can never spend the money originally donated all expenses of the Foundation, including grants, must be paid out of the income earned on invested funds.

In May 2005 the Foundation awarded $ 7,000 in grants including:

$1,000 to Danny & Jessica Angel Foundation for meal tickets and nutritious snacks for elementary school students

$2,500 to Sussex Corner Elementary School for a Comfort Connecting Corner;

$3,500 to the Kiwanis Club of Sussex for a Children’s Splash Pad in O’Connell Park;

 

At the graduation ceremonies of Sussex Regional High School on June 25, five scholarships will be awarded by SACF in a total amount of $12,500 , completing the total grant making at $19,500 for this spring.

The application deadline for the next grant process is September 15, 2005.
